NEC, last month, introduced Lavie J ultraportable and LaVie G series multimedia notebooks. Now, they have sprinkled blue color to its LaVie L machines. The 15.4” widescreen LaVie L LL550/HG PC is now being offered in blue (thank God! It’s not pink again).

The laptop comes with a 1.8GHz AMD Sempron 3200+ CPU, Vista Home Premium and Office Personal 2007, a Multi DVD, a 100GB hard disk, an AMD Radeon Xpress 1100 graphic card, 1GB of RAM, and other basic features. Boston-Power claims safer, speedy charging notebook battery

Boston-Power touts its new battery for laptops to be more efficient than traditional ones in three ways. Firstly, it gets recharged an approximately half the time. Secondly, it offers the same power and finally, it won’t blow up. While the new Sonata Battery can be charged to 80 percent capacity in about 30 minutes, run of the mill laptop batteries consume one to two hours to get to 90 percent capacity.
Sonata battery (blue one pictured above) is mechanically compatible with most of the laptop designs. The exteriors of the battery cells are made of a metal alloy that is much stronger than that of the iron cans used in conventional notebook batteries. What’s up next? A laptop battery of the size of a grain?

Samsungs fuel cell dock: Enough power to run laptop for month

Ever thought of having a laptop that can go on and on for a month before needing a recharge. The world moved one step closer to that dream when Samsung recently displayed futuristic fuel cell docking technology that has ample power to power your laptop for a month.

The cell device was displayed with working model of Q35 ultra portable which the company says can run for a month but with various laptops having varied power consumption ratio so it will probably be a far fetched idea to say that all laptops will be able to last a month but still what ever time may it be it will be far better than what laptop batteries are able to provide now.
Company further said that their fuel cell has the energy density of 650WH/L; that is just about 4 times the other offerings in the market, further the company claims to have reduced the noise levels a big obstruction in realization of its commercial worth.

Samsung also said they are on work on a mini fuel cell that uses little fuel but can power a laptop for 15 hours. Although the safety aspect of these fuel cells are yet to be tested but never the less it is a good innovation.

The Apple’s Core 2 Duo MacBooks are selling like rage, if the recent figures quoted by the Chinese newspaper are to be believed. It says the Taiwanese manufacturer Asustek Computer manufacturing partner of MacBooks has an order of 300,000 units this month.
Thus the overall production of Asustek will reach 700,000 units if we take into account the manufacturing of its own brand.
The paper further reports that the production dropped in the month of October because the Apple was busy upgrading its MacBooks to Intel processors.
This 300,000 shipment will see the Apple easily crossing the 1 million mark if we take into account the MacBook Pro systems also.
