MacBook or MacBook Pro users must be much relieved to here that the company has finally come up with a solution to resolve the battery issues related to performance, such as shorter than usual battery life or problems charging the battery. The company has issued some software updates in the Apple menu and its website and has advised the owners of the above mentioned note books bought after February 2006, to download these software updates.
The company has also mentioned on its website that in case the fix doesn’t work, notebook users should contact Apple to have their battery replaced if they notice the following symptoms.
• Battery is not recognized causing an “X” to appear in the battery icon in the Finder menu bar.
• Battery will not charge when computer is plugged into AC power.
• Battery exhibits low charge capacity/runtime when using a fully charged battery with a battery cycle count (as shown in System Profiler) of less than 300.
• Battery pack is visibly deformed.
The issues are just related to the performance of the product according to the company.

The Mebius PC-WT70T Laptop
Mebius PC-WT70T is a brand new laptop from the Sharp group. The laptop utilities 1.6 GHz CPU processor, a 15.4 inches display, and 1GB of RAM. The Windows Vista Home Premium and Microsoft Office 2007 will be pre-installed with this product. In addition, it has a SATA microprocessor of a capacity of 100 GB. The Mebius PC-WT70T is also equipped with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and an integrated DVI. No word on pricing.

Dell Inc. has confirmed that the company will soon offer notebooks with preinstalled Linux operating system.
Thousand of blog visitors voted that Dell should release computers that come equipped with Linux. The company has heard all the customers and will soon offer Linux powered Laptops.
Currently there is no news on the price of these machines, but many expect that they should be somewhat cheaper than Windows powered machines as Linux is a free OS and most of its applications also come free of charge.

The Lenovo 14.1 Inch ‘ThinkPad Premium Edition’ Laptop
Lenovo will launch its new laptop “ThinkPad Premium Edition” in Korea. This Windows Vista ready laptop comes jam packed with Intel Core2Duo Processor T7600, 256MB ATI M66GL graphic chipset, and 160GB 5400rpmh HDD. It also has 14.1-inch SXGA+ display with 1400×1050 resolution. The Lenovo 14.1 Inch Laptop “ThinkPad Premium Edition” will be available from March 1, 2007 for around $4300.
Sony Releases Twelve Vista-Powered VAIO Laptops
Sony released a dozen new Vista powered VAIO laptops destined for the Korean market. Some of them are the metallically-designed FE48L/H 15.4-inch widescreen multimedia laptop, the compact 13.3-inch widescreen SZ/C series that utilities Sony’s exclusive hybrid graphic system to adjust battery life to user’s environment, the TX55L/B which is coated in black, and a portable UX27LN that comes with a U1500 Intel Core Solo processor and Windows Vista Business. Pricing are still unknown.

FCC Has Approved Asus R1E Tablet PC
Asus R1E tablet PC has approved by the FCC so you should be able to find it on Asus’s site in a few days. This 13.3-inch convertible tablet is based on Santa Rosa platform, which sports Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 / T7300 / T7100 processor, up to 4GB RAM, max 160GB hard drive, 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth, dual layer DVD burner, GMA X3100 graphics and Windows Vista operating system.
NEC ‘Lavie L’ gets the blue treatment
NEC, last month, introduced Lavie J ultraportable and LaVie G series multimedia notebooks. Now, they have sprinkled blue color to its LaVie L machines. The 15.4” widescreen LaVie L LL550/HG PC is now being offered in blue (thank God! It’s not pink again).
